An early adopter of social media and digital storytelling, Bess has spent nearly two decades exploring how new technologies can bring stories — and communities — to life. Today, Bess continues experimenting with new forms of digital storytelling, reaching more than 153,000 social media followers with short-form stories celebrating Florida’s people, places, history, and wonderfully strange character.
@auerfloridalife In addition to being a koi keeper, I’m also an artist. I specialize in gourd art. I take gourds and transform them into sculptures. Today we drove one of my pieces, a peacock, down to a gallery in Saint Pete, Florida. My sculpture will be on display at the Five Deuces Galleria for the next two months.

@auerfloridalife Our neighbor dropped some plants off for our Koi pond, and inside there was a baby turtle and a crayfish. They were both really need to see, but will probably never see them again because into the bottom they went.
