“What a Wonderful Gourd”

$450.00
sold out

Materials: dried gourd, polymer clay, moldable EVA foam clay, acrylic, glass, plastic, repurposed vintage trumpet case (circa 1939).

Size: Large gourd - approx. 8” x 22” x 12“

Theme: The Importance of Art

Inspiration: I’ve always considered Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World” my wedding song, and so it has a special place in my heart. But the musician nicknamed “Satchmo” is inspirational, too, speaking both English and fluent Russian, having been raised by Russian immigrant parents. (And if you don’t know the story of President Nixon carrying Satchmo’s trumpet case, google it!) But thanks to artists like Satchmo, art bridges gaps and speaks when words fail.
