About Bess Auer

Bess AuerBess Auer is a leader in the blogging and social media industry. She is dedicated to educating bloggers and to connecting them with brands through her online community, annual conferences, and the television show Blog Talk TV.

Bess got her blogging start as the first editor of the Central Florida Top 5, awarded “Best Neighborhood Blog” by the Orlando Sentinel in 2009. She was also recruited to help create three different social media campaigns for General Motors and their “Girls on the Go” campaign for the Southern Chevy Dealers.

Drawing upon almost 20 years of classroom teaching experience, Bess expanded the educational offerings for bloggers by creating the Florida Blogger & Social Media Conference (FLBlogCon). FLBlogCon features the state’s biggest bloggers and social media pros at a one-day gathering for networking, learning, and exploring the digital realm. Now in its fifth year, the conference has grown into one of the largest blogging conferences in the southeast.

Based on the success of FLBlogCon, Bess branched into being a full-time entrepreneur by completing Gregg Pollack’s Starter Studio program, a 3-month accelerator for tech start ups, where she honed the idea of creating an online community where bloggers could learn year-round. Thus, the launch of GottaGetBlogging.com, a community website that is focused on helping bloggers around the world through video tutorials, webinars, mentorship, and BlogTalkTV, a television show that airs in 1.5 millions homes and shines the spotlight on successful bloggers.

In addition to blogging, Bess is a passionate swim mom, which led her to start FloridaSwimNetwork.com, a website that live streams competitive swim meets from across the state and for the University of Florida. The website was also recognized by the International Olympic Committee for the 2012 London Games. Most weekends you can find her poolside hanging with Ryan Lochte and other Olympians from the Sunshine State.

Crowd-Funding in Cambodia and Other Things I Won’t Take For Granted

One of the things I like best about traveling is the perspective it gives me on my own life. I believe if everybody were able to travel the world and see different people and other cultures, then it would probably be a much nicer planet. And while there are many … Read More

MailChimp Has Got Swag

MailChimp is one of my favorite tools and I use it often to manage my email campaigns. Not only is it incredibly easy to use, but perhaps even more important, it is FREE. (At least until you get to 2,000 subscribers on your list. After that it is still reasonable!) … Read More

Asian Skinny vs. American Fat

Asian Skinny vs. American Fat

Okay, I normally don’t use the word “fat” but it seemed appropriate in this context. When I was in Asia visiting Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam, we were hard-pressed to find one person who I would consider to be overweight. In some of the villages we visited,  underweight was the … Read More

Ford Fabulosity for the Holidays

Through my relationship with Ford, I’ve been able to attend some pretty amazing events, like the Go Further With Ford Conference in Detroit and the Drive Orlando event. So, I was thrilled when I was invited to a decidedly “girlie” outing of food and fashion hosted by Ford. And the … Read More
