Second Harvest is one of my favorite organizations in Central Florida. I’ve written about them often and even presented at one of their social media luncheons about Blogging for a Cause, because I feel so strongly about supporting their mission to end hunger. So, I’m excited to spread word about their next opportunity where you and I can help.
The 2nd annual #GivingTuesday will be held on December 3, 2013. In the same way that retail stores take part in Black Friday and Cyber Monday, we want the giving community to come together for #GivingTuesday!
The holiday season presents us with opportunities to count blessings, and to help others feel the joys that make it such a special time. This year, so many families, kids and seniors in our community find themselves in that awful gap of unmet need. The good news is that together we can help them.
This year, Second Harvest Food Bank is teaming up with WESH 2 News’ Share Your Christmas on #GivingTuesday to help families, seniors and kids in our community.
The #GivingTuesday challenge: Raise $10,000, which is equivalent to 40,000 meals for our neighbors in need.
On Tuesday, December 3rd, at midnight a donate button will appear on our #GivingTuesday web page. I know that with your help we can encourage our Central Florida community to raise $10,000 online, which will provide 40,000 meals locally.
A donation in any amount makes such an incredible difference to our neighbors in need.
Now this is really cool – help create a virtual “thunderclap” of buzz by signing up to automatically tweet this out: “I’m helping Second Harvest provide 40,000 meals to seniors, kids, and families. #GivingTuesday”
Just sign up for the thunderclap here! (It will tweet automatically for you on December 3.)
So, join me in spreading word about supporting the people right here in Central Florida this holiday season. Give yourself the gift of giving!
