Many of you know I used to work with Chevrolet. I was one of Chevy’s “Girls on the Go” for several different social media campaigns, where I blogged, vlogged, tweeted, and made appearances for General Motors. I was a Chevy girl through and through… or so I thought!
Lately my car-conscious heart has been slowly wooed and won by another All-American company… one started by Mr. Henry Ford himself. Ford Motor Company has been engaging bloggers across the land in a very meaningful manner. I was first introduced to Ford when they stepped up to sponsor last year’s FLBlogCon, and I was impressed by the way Ford’s rep Audrey Morris was truly interested in building a relationship with the bloggers she met.
I recently wrote about the importance of establishing a friendly relationship with bloggers in a previous post, and as I said then, some companies do this very well, and Ford is one of them. However, this goes way beyond friendly relations, because you have to have a product to back up all the friendly talk. Since last year’s FLBlogCon, I’ve had the opportunity to attend several Ford events and really explore Ford’s car line up.
I’ve listened to one of Ford’s design engineers talk about how they developed some of the latest innovations, like how a Ford car knows if you are falling asleep at the wheel or not. I’ve discovered that Ford is teaming with companies like General Electric to not only make cars but also homes work smarter. I’ve delighted in the fact that Ford shares green technology breakthroughs with companies like Coca Cola because they are both working with the World Wildlife Fund in order to save the Earth for future generations.
When I was in Detroit for the Go Further With Ford event, we were given the opportunity to drive several different Ford cars, ranging from the Fusion and the Escape to the electric Focus. By getting in and experiencing the cars first-hand, I have become a major fan!
Ford has taken the driving experience I got in Detroit and is bringing it to a city near you! Right now, the Ecoboost Tour is here in Orlando. I went out to the Orange County Convention Center (where else will you find a parking lot big enough?!) with about 70 other bloggers, dealers, and Ford friends and family to hit the “test track” once again as part of a media preview.
This weekend, you can experience all that Ford has to offer. Over 700 Central Floridians have already signed up to take a test drive, where they will be competing for the fastest time or the most economical driving (the challenge depends on the car). Ford makes this event a real experience! You first get a bit of a “classroom” talk, where the features are highlighted and then put the pedal to the metal, baby! (Er, so to speak!)
