As a writer, I’m extremely involved in the blog scene here in Orlando. I founded the award-winning Central Florida Top 5 blog in 2009, even teaming with IzonOrlando.com, before moving on to Florida Swim Network. Through these various sites, I met a great variety of bloggers ranging from mommy bloggers, fitbloggers, foodies, and just about everything in between!
So, I decided it would be a great idea to get all these different bloggers together – many of whom were far, far more successful than me – and share best practices. Thus, the Central Florida Blogger & Social Media Conference was born. Now into its second year, CFLBlogCon 2012 will be held on Saturday, September 15 at the Orlando Science Center. So, if you are into blogging or just social media in general (or are even curious what it’s all about) then this conference is the place you need to be! (Save $ if you sign up before July 1st!)
I’m excited that other writers will be joining me there – we can have an author meet up during the Blogger Break Out by Niche session!
Keeping with the idea of locals helping locals, I was happy to learn about the UCF Social Media Club, which hosts a tweet chat each Monday night from 8 pm to 9 pm. Founded by Amira Khalil, the UCFSMC is one of the first social media clubs for college students, and they regularly reach out to the greater community for guidance and advice. Love it!
So, this coming Monday, June 18, I will hosting the UCFSMC’s tweet chat and we’ll be discussing “Structuring and Launching a Social Media Campaign.” Have something interesting to add to the topic? Just want to see what others have to say? Be sure to join us!
It’s easy and free and always worth the participation!
